Government debunks fake social media claim about student’s death during protests

 

The government has debunked social media posts circulating a video claiming that a student died during the protests in Delhi and alleging that the police refused to register an FIR based on the student’s mother’s complaint. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has clarified that the claim is false.

The unit said no protest-related deaths have occurred in Delhi and that the viral video featuring the woman is an AI-generated deepfake created to mislead the public as part of a disinformation campaign.

The PIB has urged citizens to verify information only through official sources and refrain from sharing any unverified content.
