वॉशिंगटन: अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप ने भारत की चुनावी व्यवस्था और वोटर पहचान प्रणाली की तारीफ करते हुए इसे अमेरिकी चुनावों में अधिक सख्त नियम लागू करने के लिए एक उदाहरण के तौर पर पेश किया है। ट्रंप ने भारत में मतदाताओं की पहचान सुनिश्चित करने की व्यवस्था का उल्लेख करते हुए अमेरिका में अनिवार्य फोटो ID और नागरिकता से जुड़े कड़े नियमों की अपनी मांग दोहराई।

भारत की चुनाव व्यवस्था का दिया उदाहरण

ट्रंप ने सोशल मीडिया पर अपने बयान में भारत के मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त ज्ञानेश कुमार के साथ हुई बातचीत का जिक्र किया। उनके अनुसार, कुमार ने अमेरिका में बिना अनिवार्य वैध फोटो पहचान पत्र के चुनाव होने को लेकर सवाल उठाया था।

ट्रंप ने भारत के हालिया आम चुनाव का उदाहरण देते हुए कहा कि बड़ी संख्या में लोगों ने मतदान किया और बहुत कम मतदाताओं ने डाक मतपत्र का इस्तेमाल किया। उन्होंने भारत की पहचान-आधारित मतदान व्यवस्था को चुनावी सुरक्षा के संदर्भ में सकारात्मक उदाहरण के तौर पर प्रस्तुत किया।

SAVE America Act को लेकर फिर जोर

अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति ने अपने देश में चुनावी नियमों को और कड़ा करने के लिए SAVE America Act को आगे बढ़ाने की जरूरत पर फिर जोर दिया है। प्रस्तावित कानून का उद्देश्य मतदाता पंजीकरण और मतदान प्रक्रिया में नागरिकता तथा पहचान संबंधी आवश्यकताओं को मजबूत करना है।

ट्रंप का तर्क है कि मतदान प्रक्रिया में वैध पहचान की अनिवार्यता चुनावों की सुरक्षा और विश्वसनीयता बढ़ाने में मदद कर सकती है। वहीं अमेरिका में इस तरह के प्रस्तावों को लेकर राजनीतिक और कानूनी बहस जारी है।

भारत का उदाहरण अमेरिकी बहस में चर्चा का विषय

भारत दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा लोकतंत्र है और यहां चुनाव प्रक्रिया का संचालन निर्वाचन आयोग करता है। ट्रंप द्वारा भारत की चुनावी व्यवस्था का उल्लेख ऐसे समय किया गया है जब अमेरिका में मतदाता पहचान, नागरिकता प्रमाण और डाक मतदान को लेकर राजनीतिक बहस तेज है।

इंडोनेशिया के फ्लोरेस में 7.7 तीव्रता का शक्तिशाली भूकंप, मौतों का आंकड़ा बढ़कर 38 हुआ

नई दिल्ली: इंडोनेशिया के फ्लोरेस द्वीप के पास शनिवार को 7.7 तीव्रता का शक्तिशाली भूकंप आया। भूकंप के कारण कई इमारतें और मकान क्षतिग्रस्त हुए तथा कुछ क्षेत्रों में भूस्खलन की भी खबर है। ताजा रिपोर्टों के अनुसार, इस प्राकृतिक आपदा में कम से कम 38 लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है।

भूकंप का केंद्र इंडोनेशिया के पूर्वी नुसा तेंगारा प्रांत में एंडे शहर से लगभग 68 किलोमीटर उत्तर-पश्चिम में बताया गया है। भूकंप के बाद कई झटके भी महसूस किए गए, जिससे लोगों में दहशत फैल गई और बड़ी संख्या में लोग सुरक्षित स्थानों की ओर चले गए। 

भूकंप के बाद अधिकारियों ने कुछ तटीय क्षेत्रों के लिए सुनामी चेतावनी जारी की थी, जिसे बाद में हटा लिया गया। राहत और बचाव दल प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में पहुंचकर लोगों को सुरक्षित निकालने तथा नुकसान का आकलन करने में जुटे हैं। कई इलाकों में सड़कें और संचार व्यवस्था प्रभावित होने से बचाव कार्यों में कठिनाइयों का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। 

फ्लोरेस और आसपास के इलाकों में भूकंप के झटकों के बाद कई इमारतों को नुकसान पहुंचा है। अधिकारियों के अनुसार, आफ्टरशॉक्स जारी रहे और हजारों लोगों को सुरक्षित स्थानों पर पहुंचाया गया। राहत एवं बचाव अभियान अभी जारी है।

भारत को पाकिस्तान PM शहबाज शरीफ की फिर धमकी, सिंधु जल संधि को लेकर बोले- एक बूंद पानी भी नहीं रोक सकते

नई दिल्ली: भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच सिंधु जल संधि को लेकर तनाव एक बार फिर सुर्खियों में है। पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री शहबाज शरीफ ने भारत को चेतावनी देते हुए कहा है कि पाकिस्तान के हिस्से के पानी को रोकने की किसी भी कोशिश का जवाब दिया जाएगा। उनकी यह टिप्पणी भारत-पाकिस्तान के बीच बढ़े तनाव के बीच सामने आई है।

केसरी टीवी की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, शहबाज शरीफ ने भारत को लेकर कड़ा रुख अपनाते हुए सिंधु नदी के पानी को पाकिस्तान के लिए बेहद महत्वपूर्ण बताया। उन्होंने कहा कि पाकिस्तान अपने जल अधिकारों से समझौता नहीं करेगा।

सिंधु जल संधि को लेकर बढ़ा तनाव

भारत ने अप्रैल 2025 में पहलगाम आतंकी हमले के बाद सिंधु जल संधि को स्थगित करने का फैसला किया था। इसके बाद पाकिस्तान की ओर से लगातार इस मुद्दे को उठाया जाता रहा है। पाकिस्तान ने भारत से संधि के सामान्य संचालन को बहाल करने की मांग भी की थी।

शहबाज शरीफ की ताजा टिप्पणी को पाकिस्तान की ओर से भारत पर दबाव बनाने की कोशिश के तौर पर देखा जा रहा है। उन्होंने संकेत दिया कि पानी के मुद्दे पर पाकिस्तान किसी भी तरह का समझौता स्वीकार नहीं करेगा।

भारत-पाकिस्तान तनाव के बीच आया बयान

यह बयान ऐसे समय में सामने आया है जब दोनों देशों के बीच पहले से ही कई मुद्दों को लेकर तनाव बना हुआ है। इससे पहले पाकिस्तान के सैन्य नेतृत्व की ओर से भी सिंधु जल और भारत की जल नीति को लेकर कड़े बयान सामने आए थे।

भारत का रुख रहा है कि पाकिस्तान के साथ संबंधों में आतंकवाद और सीमा पार हिंसा प्रमुख मुद्दे हैं। ऐसे में सिंधु जल संधि को लेकर पाकिस्तान की चेतावनियों ने दोनों देशों के बीच कूटनीतिक तनाव को फिर चर्चा में ला दिया है।

फिलहाल शहबाज शरीफ के बयान के बाद भारत की ओर से किसी नई आधिकारिक प्रतिक्रिया का इंतजार है।

लाल किला कार बम धमाके के पीछे अल-कायदा का हाथ, UNSC रिपोर्ट में खुलासा

नई दिल्ली: संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद (UNSC) की आतंकवाद निगरानी टीम ने दिल्ली के लाल किले के पास हुए घातक कार बम धमाके को अल-कायदा इन द इंडियन सबकॉन्टिनेंट (AQIS) से जोड़ते हुए इसे संगठन की कार्रवाई बताया है। इस हमले में 11 लोगों की मौत हुई थी।

UNSC की Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team की आतंकवाद संबंधी रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि नवंबर 2025 में हुआ यह हमला आधिकारिक तौर पर AQIS को जिम्मेदार ठहराया गया है।

AQIS ने बदला अपना तरीका

रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, AQIS एक बिखरे हुए संगठन से आगे बढ़कर क्षेत्रीय आतंकवादी इकाई के रूप में विकसित हुआ है। संगठन ने बड़े समूहों के बजाय छोटी और अलग-अलग सेल के माध्यम से अपनी गतिविधियों को संचालित करने के लिए लॉजिस्टिक और वित्तीय नेटवर्क विकसित किए हैं।

रिपोर्ट में यह भी चेतावनी दी गई है कि AQIS बांग्लादेश में अपनी सेल स्थापित करने के लिए वहां की परिस्थितियों का फायदा उठाने की कोशिश कर रहा है। दक्षिण एशिया में आतंकवादी खतरे बढ़ने को लेकर भी चिंता जताई गई है।

पहले जैश-ए-मोहम्मद का आया था नाम

UNSC की आतंकवाद निगरानी टीम की फरवरी में जारी पिछली रिपोर्ट में लाल किले पर हुए हमले को जैश-ए-मोहम्मद (JeM) से जोड़े जाने की बात सामने आई थी। नई रिपोर्ट में AQIS को हमले के लिए सीधे तौर पर जिम्मेदार बताए जाने की बात सामने आई है। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, जैश-ए-मोहम्मद के अल-कायदा के साथ करीबी संबंध रहे हैं।

2014 में हुई थी AQIS की स्थापना

रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक अल-कायदा इन द इंडियन सबकॉन्टिनेंट (AQIS) की स्थापना 2014 में अल-कायदा के तत्कालीन नेता अयमान अल-जवाहिरी ने की थी। UNSC की संबंधित निगरानी टीम में 10 विशेषज्ञ शामिल हैं, जो दुनिया भर में आतंकवादी संगठनों और उनके सहयोगियों से जुड़े खतरों की निगरानी करते हैं।

UNSC की रिपोर्ट में AQIS के क्षेत्रीय नेटवर्क और दक्षिण एशिया में बढ़ती गतिविधियों को लेकर चिंता जताई गई है।

Robert Gilman

A former US Marine, Robert Gilman, who had been imprisoned by Russia for over four years, has been freed on humanitarian grounds and is due to return home after advocates raised concerns about his health. Announcing Gilman’s release in a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump said he spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who agreed to release him on humanitarian grounds.

Trump said he appreciated the decision and the fact that Russia did not ask for a prisoner swap or exchange. Trump said Gilman was imprisoned in Russia during former US President Joe Biden’s administration in 2022. He said Gilman, who served in the US Marines from August 2019 until August 2020, was travelling by train when he was arrested in January 2022 in Voronezh.

According to Russian media, Gilman was detained for allegedly kicking a police officer while drunk. However, his father said the charges were false. Gilman had been one of at least 10 Americans known to be imprisoned in Russia. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also thanked Russia and vowed to bring home all other detained Americans.

International Tiger Day is being observed across the world today to raise awareness about tiger conservation, protect natural habitats and address the declining numbers of wild tigers.

It was established in November 2010 during the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia. Leaders from 13 tiger-range countries, including India, adopted the ambitious Tx2 goal to double the global wild tiger population by 2022. In 2010, only about 3,200 wild tigers were estimated to remain globally. According to recent global estimates, approximately 5,711 wild tigers remain worldwide, representing an increase of around 78 per cent.

India has emerged as a global leader in tiger conservation through science-based policies and strong institutional support. The country is now home to nearly 70 per cent of the world’s wild tigers. Technology-driven monitoring, effective governance and community participation have strengthened conservation outcomes. India is also advancing global cooperation to secure the future of tigers and their habitats.

Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav extended their greetings to wildlife enthusiasts on Global Tiger Day and reaffirmed India’s commitment to tiger conservation.

In a social media post, Mr Radhakrishnan said that with the world’s largest wild tiger population, India’s success reflects sustained efforts in habitat conservation, scientific monitoring, anti-poaching measures, and the unwavering dedication of forest personnel, scientists, conservationists, and local communities.

PM Modi said India is home to 70 percent of the world’s tiger population. He applauded forest personnel, scientists and conservationists for their key role in tiger conservation and highlighted India’s commitment to empowering local communities and reducing human-wildlife conflict.

Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav said the encouraging data reflects the health of Indian forests and the country’s focus on conservation. He said the government remains committed to protecting tigers and their ecosystems while supporting forest-dependent communities whose livelihoods are closely linked to the country’s forests.

International Tiger Day is being observed today, with various programmes scheduled to be organised at the Ranipur Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh. The state has witnessed a significant increase in its tiger population over the past few years. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Anuradha Vemuri said Uttar Pradesh now has four tiger reserves, reflecting the state’s rich biodiversity and its commitment to wildlife conservation.

According to the 2022 tiger census, Uttar Pradesh has a total of 205 tigers. The state’s tiger population has steadily increased from 109 in 2006 to 118 in 2010, 117 in 2014, 173 in 2018 and 205 in 2022. The ‘Bagh Mitra’ initiative is also playing a key role in reducing human-wildlife conflict in the state. The programme was launched in Pilibhit in 2019 and has proved highly effective. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also appreciated the initiative during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme. 

In October 2023, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the ‘Bagh Mitra’ app in Pilibhit. Pilibhit Tiger Reserve Divisional Forest Officer Manish Singh said a WhatsApp group of ‘Bagh Mitras’ has been created in Pilibhit, with 120 local residents from villages surrounding the forest area enrolled in the initiative.

Villagers living within five kilometres of the forest are selected as ‘Bagh Mitras’ and provided training by the Forest Department. Whenever a tiger or any other wild animal is spotted outside the forest, the ‘Bagh Mitras’ immediately inform the department. This enables forest officials and staff to respond promptly, remain on alert and dispatch teams to the location.

World Hepatitis Day is being observed today globally. This day is an opportunity to step up national and international efforts on hepatitis, encourage actions and engagement by individuals, partners and the public and highlight the need for a greater global response as outlined in the WHO’s Global hepatitis report of 2017.

The theme for this year is “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down,” focusing on removing financial, social, and healthcare barriers to reach the 2030 elimination goals. The date of 28 July was chosen because it is the birthday of Nobel-prize winning scientist Dr Baruch Blumberg, who discovered hepatitis B virus (HBV) and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine for the virus.

World Nature Conservation Day is being observed today globally. This day raises awareness about protecting nature and conserving natural resources to save the earth from the dangers of adverse impacts of climate change.

In 1997, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) declared July 28th as World Nature Conservation Day. The purpose was to emphasize the significance of nature conservation and sustainable practices for the well-being of the planet.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met with Hua Chunying, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China and reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations in Beijing. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who is on a China visit, also discussed means of advancing the vision that India and China are partners and development opportunities for each other, including through mutually beneficial outcomes across trade and economic ties.

According to the Embassy of India in China, both officials also acknowledged the importance of maintaining peace and tranquillity in the India-China border areas. Earlier in the day, Secretary Misri discussed ways to enhance bilateral exchanges between India and China at the political and people-to-people levels during his meeting with Hong Liang, Deputy Secretary General of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), in Beijing. The embassy noted that they also discussed ways to enhance bilateral exchanges at the political and people-to-people levels. India’s Ambassador to China, Vikram Doraiswami, was also present during the meeting.

The US military has launched new airstrikes against Iran to punish the Iranian Revolutionary Guard for an attack in Jordan that killed two American service members, left one missing and four requiring hospitalisation.

US Central Command said the strikes were designed to further degrade Iran’s ability to restrict the traffic of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.

The waterway accounted for roughly 20 per cent of global oil supplies before the war.

The new strikes came after the US military announced its first troop deaths from direct Iranian fire since the opening days of the war, following a drone and missile attack on a base in Jordan on Friday. 

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, today announced that Tehran has suspended its commitments under the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States, accusing Washington of breaching the agreement.

According to Iranian media, Gharibabadi said the two sides had been engaged in negotiations, but the United States allegedly violated its obligations under the MoU by carrying out what he described as aggressive actions. He further stated that the United States had practically violated and suspended all of its commitments, adding that Iran had also responded by suspending its own obligations under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

The announcement came amid the United States and Iran exchanging fresh strikes today as fighting over the Strait of Hormuz intensified. The heaviest damage was reported in Kuwait, where Iranian strikes hit a water desalination plant and an oil facility, injuring several people and disrupting power generation. It was the second attack on a desalination plant in two days, raising concerns in a country that relies on desalination for about 90 per cent of its drinking water. 

The Kuwait Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attacks, calling them heinous Iranian aggression targeting critical civilian infrastructure, and accused Iran of violating international law. On the other hand, the US Central Command said its latest strikes targeted Iranian surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities this morning.

Iranian authorities said at least 50 people have been killed and more than 500 injured in US strikes in the past three weeks, including eight killed in a strike on a bridge yesterday. The conflict has increasingly centred on the Strait of Hormuz following the collapse of an interim ceasefire. 

Iran launched a barrage of missile and drone attacks on Kuwait today as its conflict with the United States intensified. The strikes forced the closure of Kuwait’s airspace, suspended all flight operations and damaged parts of the country’s power and water desalination infrastructure.

Air raid sirens sounded across Kuwait from the early hours, and authorities advised people to remain indoors and take shelter after missiles launched from Iran entered Kuwaiti airspace. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC, claimed it targeted the Arifjan Ground Forces Support Centre in Kuwait during the 18th phase of its Operation Nasr 2. It alleged that several US troops stationed at the facility were killed.

The IRGC also claimed it carried out a drone strike on the radar installation at the US Ali Al Salem Air Base. It further said its naval forces targeted the US Navy’s fuel support pier at Kuwait’s Al Ahmadi Port with drones and missiles and struck a US signalling and communications hub in the country. These claims have not been independently verified.

According to Media reports, Kuwait closed its airspace and Kuwait Airways suspended all inbound and outbound flights at Kuwait International Airport. The airline said the decision was taken because of the rapidly deteriorating security situation.

The strikes also affected essential services. Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said a fire broke out at a section of a power and water desalination plant following the attacks. 

More than three weeks after the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes struck, authorities have recorded 1,331 aftershocks. 

Meanwhile, Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez thanked 28 countries for extending humanitarian assistance to earthquake victims. After inspecting an aid collection centre in Caracas, she said more than 2,000 tonnes of international relief material are being sorted and distributed to people staying in temporary camps following the earthquakes.

The visiting dignitary will also meet the minister of ports, shipping and waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, on Wednesday in New Delhi.

The Ministry of External Affairs said India and Panama share a close partnership anchored in shared values, mutual interests and goodwill.

According to the UN, dozens of people have reportedly been killed since last month during demonstrations linked to growing political unrest ahead of the elections. The High Commissioner called for prompt, thorough and impartial investigations into all deaths that have occurred due to the unrest.

Mr Turk also expressed concern over Pakistan’s decision to ban the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC), the organisation leading the protest movement, under anti-terrorism laws. The JKAAC, which includes traders, transporters, students, lawyers and civil society activists, was outlawed on allegations of threatening public order and security, while several of its leaders were subsequently arrested.

The UN warned that criminalising a civil society movement and imposing sweeping restrictions on public gatherings raise serious concerns about violations of the rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association. Calling for adherence to international human rights standards, the High Commissioner said detained JKJAAC leaders must be granted immediate access to legal counsel and their families. 

Mr Turk also criticised restrictions on internet access imposed across parts of the territory, saying communication blackouts disproportionately undermine the right to freedom of expression, including the ability to seek, receive and share information during a period of heightened tensions. The United Nations urged authorities to restore full internet connectivity throughout the region.
