The world-famous Bahuda Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra is underway in the holy city of Puri in Odisha.
The Pahandi ritual has been completed, and the sibling deities have been ceremonially seated on their respective chariots. The pulling of the chariots is expected to begin after the remaining customary rituals are completed.
The Grand Road, stretching from the Shree Gundicha Temple to the Shree Jagannath Temple, is filled with millions of devotees who have gathered to witness the sacred event.
During the return journey, Lord Jagannath’s chariot will make the customary halt at the Mausi Maa Temple, where the deity will be offered Poda Pitha, a traditional baked delicacy prepared from rice, lentils and jaggery.
The Bahuda Yatra continues to symbolise Odisha’s rich spiritual heritage and its enduring message of faith, harmony and universal brotherhood.
