Viksit Bharat not possible without comprehensive development of villages, farmers, panchayats: MoS Baghel
Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj S P Singh Baghel today said that the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ cannot be realised without the comprehensive development of villages, farmers, panchayats, and the broader rural landscape. He made these remarks while addressing the gathering on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day today. The Minister said that inclusive growth at the grassroots level remains essential for national progress.
He also noted that the government has undertaken substantial efforts to improve efficiency and governance delivery. The Minister noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the benefits of various government schemes are increasingly reaching the grassroots. Mr Baghel added that mechanisms such as Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) have ensured that assistance is delivered directly to beneficiaries, enhancing transparency and reducing leakages.
In the celebration of National Panchayati Raj Day today, elected representatives of the Panchayat from various states also participated. A Gram Panchayat Pradhan from Bergani, Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, Yudhveer Singh Rawat said that the Panchayati Raj Ministry is providing handholding support to the Panchayats and its representatives. He added that the Direct Benefit Transfer of the schemes has brought transparency and removed corruption.
Another gram Panchayat Pradhan from Kuttha, Chamba Block, Uttarakhand, Bhupendra Rawat, said that the government, through workshops and seminars, is strengthening them. He added that these initiatives are improving their efficiency at the village level.
