| World Elephant Day |
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today emphasised that the majestic elephant has remained an integral part of India’s ecological heritage.
In a social media post on the occasion of World Elephant Day, Mr Modi highlighted that India is home to over 60 per cent of the world’s wild Asian elephants. He underlined that the nation has 33 Elephant Reserves, which provide habitats for elephants and strengthen our efforts towards their long-term conservation.
The Prime Minister also lauded the contribution of forest personnel, scientists, veterinarians, mahouts and the local communities, describing them as integral to elephant conservation efforts.
