In the USA, Indian-origin Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy has secured the Republican nomination for Ohio governor with a commanding 87 percent vote share, defeating Casey Putsch. He will face Democrat Amy Acton in November this year.
Ramaswamy, who briefly challenged Trump in 2024 before endorsing him, later served in a short-lived government efficiency role alongside Elon Musk.
If elected, Ramaswamy could become the third Indian American governor in US history after fellow Republicans Bobby Jindal in Louisiana and Nikki Haley in South Carolina.
