Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the 16th India-EU Summit held at New Delhi in January this year has given a decisive new momentum to the Strategic partnership between them, taking it to a newer level.
The Minister was addressing the Europe Day celebrations in New Delhi yesterday. Ms Sitharaman said that the outcomes of the Summit mark a transformative phase in their engagement.
She added that the successful conclusion of negotiations for the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, the signing of the Security and Defence Partnership, and the adoption of the Comprehensive Framework on Cooperation on Mobility together represent a new chapter in Indo-EU relations.
She also highlighted that the joint roadmap adopted at the Summit “Towards 2030: India-EU a Joint Comprehensive Strategic Agenda” provides a clear and ambitious vision for cooperation between India and EU over the coming years. EU Ambassador Hervé Delphin was also present on the occasion.
