According to Iran’s Tasnim state news agency, the assault also hit residential areas, injuring at least 50 people. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the military operation will continue as long as necessary. In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned Israel of severe punishment. Israel’s military said Iran fired about 100 drones towards its territory, many of which were intercepted.

Meanwhile, world leaders have expressed concern over the escalating situation in West Asia. India has called for restraint from both sides and emphasised the importance of resolving the underlying issues through diplomatic channels. The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement expressing deep concern over the rising tensions between Israel and Iran.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Israel had taken unilateral action against Iran and stated that the United States believed the strikes were necessary for its self-defence.

Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the Israeli attacks. In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Kingdom strongly condemns and denounces the assault on Iran.

Oman, which has been mediating nuclear talks between the U.S. and Iran in recent months, described Israel’s actions as a dangerous and reckless escalation that violates the principles of international law.

बांग्लादेश के सिराजगंज जिले में नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता कवि रवींद्रनाथ टैगोर के पैतृक आवास में हुई तोड़फोड़ की घटना ने सबको हैरान कर दिया है। यह संपत्ति बांग्लादेश सरकार के पुरातत्व विभाग के अधीन है। टैगोर के साहित्यिक और सांस्कृतिक योगदान का प्रतीक है। बांग्लादेश सरकार ने इस मामले में त्वरित कार्रवाई करते हुए दो लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया है और जांच शुरू कर दी है।

यह घटना कुछ दिन पहले तब सामने आई, जब संपत्ति के रखवाले और दो आगंतुकों के बीच विवाद हुआ। विवाद के बाद संपत्ति में तोड़फोड़ की खबरें आईं, जिसके चलते स्थानीय पुलिस में 10 जून को एक आपराधिक मामला दर्ज किया गया। जिला प्रशासन ने इस मामले की गहन जांच के लिए एक स्थानीय जांच बोर्ड भी गठित किया है। प्रशासन ने स्पष्ट किया कि दोषियों के खिलाफ सख्त कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी।

Our correspondent reports that the identified bodies from the plane crash are being handed over to relatives after the post-mortem. So far, six bodies have been handed over to the family members.

The deadly Boeing 787-8 crashed yesterday, claiming the lives of 241 people, including 12 crew members onboard. The aircraft, operating from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, plunged into a residential complex near B J Medical College immediately after take-off from the airport.

The Gujarat government has made DNA testing arrangements at B. J. Medical College, Ahmedabad in view of the Air India plane crash incident. Families and close ones of the flight passengers, especially their parents and children, have been asked to submit their samples at the location to identify victims at the earliest.

This was stated by the Additional Chief Secretary in the Gujarat Health Department, Dhananjay Dwivedi, while talking to the media. He added that around 50 injured people have been brought to the Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, and they are being provided the best treatment. Mr. Dwivedi also said that the Civil Hospital has issued helpline numbers – 6357373831 and 6357373841 for the relatives of the passengers and other injured.

The Karnataka High Court will pronounce its judgment on the petitions filed by representatives of Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited and DNA Networks Private Limited in the Chinnaswamy stadium stampede case this afternoon. Justice S R Krishna Kumar, who heard the arguments yesterday, will pronounce the verdict. The petitions filed by RCB marketing and Revenue Head Nikhil Sosale and DNA Director Sunil Mathe, and Event Manager Kiran Kumar question the legality of their arrests in the June 4 stampede outside the Stadium during the RCB victory celebration. They were arrested for making social media posts inviting cricket fans to come to the stadium for the victory celebrations, even though there was no permission to organise the event there. A Division Bench of the High Court of acting Chief Justice V Kameshwar Rao and Justice C M Joshi, that has taken a suo moto petition in the stampede case, had ordered Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty to file the action taken report on the stampede in a sealed cover. The Government is likely to hand over this status report to the court today. The stampede had resulted in the death of 11 RCB fans.

The Indian Government has extended financial assistance for another year to support the passenger India-Sri Lanka ferry service between Nagapattinam and Kankesanthurai. The move is in line with India’s continued commitment to strengthening regional connectivity and people-to-people ties with Sri Lanka.

The assistance will continue under the Viability Gap Funding mechanism, with over 300 million Sri Lankan Rupees earmarked annually. This support helps ensure affordable fares and uninterrupted service by covering critical logistical and operational expenses.

Since its relaunch in August 2024, the ferry has been utilised by over 15,000 passengers, boosting cultural, economic, and social exchanges. It marks a significant step in revitalizing maritime links between the two countries.

The decision follows high-level bilateral engagements, including the Sri Lankan President’s visit to India in December 2024 and the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025. Plans are also underway to explore new ferry routes and expand maritime collaboration.

India and Sweden have discussed strengthening collaboration across sectors, including clean energy, digital technology, climate, healthcare and life sciences, as well as skill development. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal today held a meeting with Benjamin Dousa, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, and Hakan Jevrell, State Secretary for Foreign Trade, Sweden in Stockholm.

Mr. Goyal said he invited greater Swedish participation in India’s growing infrastructure and manufacturing sectors. The Minister also addressed the India-Sweden Business Leaders’ Roundtable lunch and said it has emerged as a cornerstone platform for bringing together business leaders from both nations to foster collaboration in trade, innovation, and investment. He emphasised the need to build partnerships between the two nations grounded in shared innovation, technological progress, and mutual prosperity.

The Union Cabinet has approved two projects of the Ministry of Railways with a total cost of six thousand 405 crore rupees. The projects include the doubling of Koderma – Barkakana rail line has been approved at a cost of three thousand and 63 crore rupees, while the doubling of the  Ballari – Chikjajur rail line has been approved at a cost of three thousand and 342 crore rupees. Briefing media in New Delhi after the Cabinet meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Koderma – Barkakana doubling project of 133 kilometres will provide enhanced connectivity to 938 villages and 15 lakh population. He said, the projects will connect four districts in Jharkhand – Koderma, Chatra, Hazaribagh and Ramgarh. Mr Vaishnaw informed that the project section will pass through a major coal-producing area of Jharkhand.

Mr Vaishnaw said, the second project Ballary – Chikjajur doubling rail line of 185 kilometres will connect Mangalore port to Secunderabad. He said, the project line traverses through Ballari and Chitradurga districts of Karnataka and Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. Mr Vaishnaw said that the project will cater to the transport of iron ore, coking coal, finished steel and fertilizers.

Mr Vaishnaw said that this project will be completed in three years. The two projects covering seven Districts across the states of Jharkhand, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 318 Kms. The increased line capacity will significantly enhance mobility, resulting in improved operational efficiency and service reliability for Indian Railways. It will enhance connectivity to over one thousand four hundred villages, which have a population of over 28 lakh. The projects will generate direct employment for about 108 lakh human-days during construction. The Union Minister also informed that during the third term of the Narendra Modi government, several projects worth over four lakh 58 thousand crore rupees have been undertaken to reduce the transportation and logistics cost. He said, because of the investment made in the transportation, the logistics cost has been reduced by four percentage points.

The Railways Ministry has said that only those users will be able to book online tatkal tickets through the IRCTC website and app from the 1st of next month who have authenticated their account with Aadhaar. The step has been taken to ensure fair and transparent access to Tatkal tickets and to safeguard the interests of passengers.

Indian Railways has announced key modifications in the tatkal ticket booking system. According to the new scheme, Aadhaar-based OTP authentication will be mandatory for online tatkal bookings from the 15th of July this year. Tatkal tickets booked at computerised Passenger Reservation System counters and through authorised agents will require OTP authentication sent to the mobile number provided by the user at the time of booking.

To prevent bulk bookings during the critical opening period, authorised ticketing agents of Indian Railways will not be permitted to book opening-day Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the booking window. For AC classes, this restriction applies from 10 AM to 10:30 AM, and for non-AC classes, from 11 AM to 11:30 AM.

The Railways Ministry has said that these changes are being implemented to improve transparency in Tatkal bookings and to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach genuine end users. Centre for Railways Information Systems and IRCTC have been instructed to make necessary system modifications and inform all Zonal Railways and concerned departments accordingly.

India’s social security coverage has increased from 19 per cent in 2015 to 64.3 per cent in 2025. According to the latest data from the International Labour Organisation’s ILOSTAT, the coverage reflects a 45 percentage point surge over the past decade. Recognising these efforts, the ILO acknowledged India’s achievement and officially published on its dashboard that over 94 crore people are now covered under at least one social protection benefit. In terms of beneficiary count, India now ranks second in the world, providing social protection to around 94 crore citizens. The Director General ILO, Gilbert F. Houngbo, praised India’s focused welfare policies for the poor and labour class under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

While holding a bilateral discussion with the DG, ILO on the sidelines of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted the pro-poor and labour welfare schemes undertaken by the Modi Government over the past eleven years. He said, this remarkable achievement stands as a testament to the visionary leadership of Mr Modi and the relentless efforts of the Government in building an inclusive and rights-based social protection ecosystem. He said the increase marks the fastest expansion in social protection coverage worldwide, reflecting the Government’s unwavering commitment to empowering the last mile and fulfilling the promise of leaving no one behind.

External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar has highlighted that the world needs to understand that the tensions between India and Pakistan are not merely a bilateral issue but a global concern about terrorism and the menace will eventually haunt the rest of the world. In an interview with ​a​ European media outlet​ in Brussels, ​he reminded them about Osama bin Laden and questioned why he felt safe living for years in a Pakistani military town. The Minister also talked about Europe’s changing geopolitics and hoped for better EU-India ties in future.

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने आर्थिक गतिविधियों को मजबूती देने के लिए एक अहम कदम उठाया है। बीते शुक्रवार को आरबीआई ने अपनी मौद्रिक नीति समिति (Monetary Policy Committee – MPC) की 55वीं बैठक के बाद पॉलिसी रेपो रेट में 50 बेसिस प्वाइंट की कटौती कर इसे 5.50% कर दिया। एमपीसी की यह बैठक 4 से 6 जून तक आयोजित की गई थी। इस फैसले के बाद स्टैंडिंग डिपॉजिट फैसिलिटी (SDF) रेट अब 5.25% हो गई है, जबकि मार्जिनल स्टैंडिंग फैसिलिटी (MSF) रेट और बैंक रेट दोनों 5.75% तय किए गए हैं। गौरतलब है कि आरबीआई का उद्देश्य है कि मध्यम अवधि में उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक (CPI) आधारित मुद्रास्फीति को 4% के लक्ष्य तक लाया जाए, जिसकी सहनशीलता सीमा ±2% है, और साथ ही आर्थिक वृद्धि को गति दी जाए।

आरबीआई ने अपनी नीति में माना कि वैश्विक स्तर पर अब भी कुछ अनिश्चितताएं बनी हुई हैं, लेकिन हालिया रुझान उत्साहवर्धक हैं। वहीं शेयर बाजार में भी सुधार, डॉलर इंडेक्स और कच्चे तेल की कीमतों में नरमी देखी जा रही है, हालांकि सोने की कीमतों में अब भी तेजी बनी हुई हैं।

राष्ट्रीय सांख्यिकी कार्यालय (NSO) द्वारा 30 मई को जारी आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, वित्त वर्ष 2024-25 की चौथी तिमाही में भारत की वास्तविक जीडीपी वृद्धि दर 7.4% रही, जो पिछली तिमाही (Q3) की 6.4% से अधिक है। इसी तिमाही में वास्तविक सकल मूल्य वर्धन (GVA) 6.8% बढ़ा। वहीं पूरे वित्त वर्ष 2024-25 के लिए वास्तविक जीडीपी वृद्धि दर 6.5% रही, जबकि GVA में 6.4% की वृद्धि हुई।

वित्त वर्ष 2025-26 के लिए आरबीआई ने 6.5% की जीडीपी वृद्धि का अनुमान लगाया है। तिमाही दरों के मुताबिक, Q1 में 6.5%, Q2 में 6.7%, Q3 में 6.6% और Q4 में 6.3% की वृद्धि अनुमानित है। यह अनुमान निजी खपत में निरंतर वृद्धि, स्थायी पूंजी निर्माण में तेजी और सरकारी पूंजीगत व्यय के समर्थन पर आधारित है।

हालांकि, आरबीआई ने यह भी कहा है कि सामरिक तनाव, वैश्विक व्यापार की अनिश्चितता और मौसम से जुड़ी चुनौतियां आगे की वृद्धि में बाधा बन सकती हैं। इसलिए नीति बनाते समय सावधानी और लचीलापन दोनों बनाए रखना आवश्यक है। आरबीआई की यह नीतिगत नरमी ब्याज दरों को कम कर बैंकिंग ऋण को सस्ता बनाएगी, जिससे उद्योग, निवेश और खपत को बढ़ावा मिलेगा। यह निर्णय ऐसे समय में आया है जब देश की अर्थव्यवस्था स्थिर हो रही है और सरकार की ओर से पूंजीगत व्यय में वृद्धि की जा रही है।-(PIB)
